Finn the Duck Briefs Trump on Europe’s AI “Luxury Problems”

By Finn the Duck, Raving Reporter – live from a Dutch windmill

Washington, DC – At a joint presser on America’s skyrocketing national debt, President Trump grumbled: “Europe’s living the good life – croissants, vacations – maybe they could chip in more?”

Your feathered EU correspondent (me!) stepped up to explain why Europe is lagging in the AI race, despite its fancy “luxury problems”.

France: Mistral AI is blowing hot air, but language barriers kill the buzz. Ask “Who?” in English, get “Qui?” in French – they just say “Oui!” Total confusion.

Spain: Everyone thinks they’re napping through siësta, turning a sunny paradise into an overpriced tourist trap. Yet those same Spaniards basically authored the EU AI Act. Rules for everyone, naps for themselves.

Portugal: Quietly leading in digital infrastructure – fast internet, smooth e-government. No drama, just results.

Estonia: Trump: “Estonia? Is that even Europe?” Tiny Baltic powerhouse integrating AI in schools while keeping the human touch.

Nordics: Norway – cha-ching, oil fund overflowing. Sweden (Ericsson), Finland (Nokia) – cash-rich and quietly innovative.

Germany: Way more AI muscle than the beer-and-cars stereotype suggests. Typical: no bragging, just building.

Trump nodded: “So Europe’s got wind, naps, oil money and rules – but America’s paying the big bills?”

I flapped: “Exactly, sir. We’re busy debating AI ethics while you handle the heavy lifting”.

He grinned: “Great report, Finn. Next time, bring cash”.

Back to the windmill, folks. Europe: full of surprises and stereotypes. America: still footing the tab.

Quackingly yours,
Finn the Duck
